Welcome to Our Ultimate Kids’ Playroom!
Hey there, friends! I am so excited to invite you into one of the most loved spaces in our home — our kids’ playroom (you can shop it all HERE!). This room is pure joy and chaos, and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way! It’s the go-to spot where the kids can be loud, creative, and just have an all-around blast. Whether they’re diving into video games, building epic Lego cities, or simply letting their imaginations run wild, this room is their happy place (I mean, come on, look at the wallpaper ;)).
This gaming area is the most popular spot in the room (a close second to the Lego building table) and is the centerpiece of our recent makeover of this room! This is the spot that gets the most action, especially after school or on those rainy weekends. The console is a new addition, and we recently added those dreamy bean bags that are perfect for settling in for a bit of gameplay. The kids have been loving hanging out together lately — it’s so fun watching them challenge each other in Mario Kart and Donkey Kong (and let’s be honest, sometimes I jump in too).
What I love most about this section is that it’s not just a game zone — it’s a chill-out spot too. We added some fun LED lights around the TV to give it that “cool” factor, and the kids are obsessed. I have to admit, it’s become a bit of a family hangout space. And when the kids have friends over, this is the place to be.
The organization around this space seems subtle, but it’s SO helpful. The headphone hangers add such a cute little element to the right of the TV, and the Playstation Slim Stand and Cooling Station not only make it look great but give everything a place to go. And, of course, we have extra controllers so that everyone can play (IYKYK, lol). Our Nintendo Switch tucks in nicely right there next to the PS5, so it’s great to have everything on display but still in an organized way.
If your kids are anything like mine, you know the magic (and mess) of Legos. Well, we’ve ensured they have their own space to go all out. Enter the Lego makerspace! I wanted them to be proud of their work and creations, so I grabbed these acrylic shelves the kids can display their creations, and the table gives them a great space with room to create all the things. Whether it’s building a Lego city, a spaceship, or some super intricate set, this little spot allows their creativity to remain endless. They can build, destroy, and start again — all in one corner of the room.
Plus, the clean-up is a little easier when everything has a place to go – Those drawers are labeled by color, and our hefty bins below are the catch-alls for pieces that don’t have a home – and YES, that’s my viral Lego vacuum! It’s such a fun little tool, and it has saved my feet from stepping on stray Lego bricks more times than I can count!
You might not believe me, but we actually just re-did this room and added this incredibly fun peel-and-stick wall paper (use code SIMPLYKATIE40 to receive 40% off!) and gorgeous console. The kiddos are growing, and we want the room to grow with them, so adding the gaming corner, a new wallpaper, and the individual beanbags with an elevated look helped us create the perfect spot in the playroom while still keeping it kid-friendly and fun.
They are small but mighty, and these acrylic wall orbs are a couple of my favorite organization pieces in the playroom. They are SO cute and make it easy for the kiddos to have somewhere to put those small toys/pieces they might not have a home for. And yes, that’s the wall opposite of our Lego station that is lined with gorgeous industrial-inspired shelves with bins full of even more fun, toys, and imaginative play…all protected by Buzz up there ;).
Honestly, this playroom has become such a special place for our family.
It’s where laughter, creativity, and imagination run wild, and I’m so happy the kids have a space they can call their own. Whether they’re beating each other in video games, crafting something special, or building their latest Lego creation, this room is the spot for all the fun.
If you’re looking for ways to jazz up your playroom, I hope this inspired you!
Here’s to creating spaces where kids can just be kids — loud, fun, and free!
