Three Recipes for Littles in the Kitchen

“We’re in the same ocean, but in different boats.” This saying has stuck with me during our current situation. I say situation, because I’m not sure I want to call it “our new normal”. In an effort to keep my littles busy and happy while we stay inside, we’ve found a couple recipes that we are loving! Since you’re in the same ocean I figured your boat might be hungry too! So here goes! Enjoy!

Banana Pudding:
1 5 oz. package of instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cups of cold milk
1 14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 12 oz. container of cool whip (I had to buy 2 8 oz. containers… bummer)
1 pack of Chessmen Cookies
A couple bananas sliced

Beat pudding mix and milk for 2 minutes. Add condensed milk. Mix. Add vanilla and half  of the cool whip.

Layer cookies in the bottom of a glass container. Alternate layers of pudding mix, bananas, and cookies. Finish with the rest of the cool whip on top. Place in fridge.

*We loved this one after it sat in the fridge and the cookies became soft!*

Edible Cookie Dough:
1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/3 cups of all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cups of chocolate chips

Nothing fancy just mix it all up! I stored mine in a container in the fridge and kept a spoon nearby! This one was my personal favorite and I would like to consider myself a raw cookie dough expert. Going on 30 years of eating raw cookie dough, beat that.

Strawberries and Cream:
4 oz. package of cream cheese softened
1/4 cup butter softened
2.5 cups of powdered sugar
1 tablespoons of vanilla
4 oz. cool whip
1 package of strawberries

Never have I seen Rocker eat this many strawberries as he did when we made this! You can also use this cream inside the middle of homemade oreos.

So to keep your boat mates happy and from taking over the ship, feed them. Actually, I encourage you to let them help you in the kitchen. If they’re old enough, have them measure the ingredients and figure out each part (the fractions are easy!) For mine, I had all the ingredients in individual bowl already measured out. They just poured them into the mixer. If you give one of these a try, comment and let me know how it goes!
