The Summer Lunch Survival Guide Every Mom Needs
Okay, can we just be honest for a second? We love summer. We LOVE our kids being home. The slower mornings, the pool days, the no-alarm-clock life… it’s genuinely one of my favorite seasons. But also? The snacks. The lunches. The “what’s for lunch” is approximately forty-five minutes after breakfast. Every. Single. Day. Y’all, the mental load of summer lunches is REAL, and we don’t talk about it enough! It’s not that it’s hard – it just becomes a daily norm in the summer, and somewhere around week three, even the most enthusiastic mama starts staring into the fridge like it owes her an answer. If that’s you right now, hi, hello…same. This post is for us. 😄

Making Summer Lunches Work: 3 Tips That Actually Help
1. Prep a little, stress a lot less. You don’t need to go full meal-prep-influencer on a Sunday afternoon (unless that’s your thing…you do you, boo!). Even just washing and cutting fruit, portioning out snacks, or making a few sandwiches ahead of time makes a surprisingly big difference when the lunch rush hits. Future you will be very, very grateful.
2. Make it fun — presentation is half the battle. Kids eat with their eyes first, and honestly? So do we. Something as simple as serving lunch in a cute basket with a checkered liner or on a divided plate makes it feel like an occasion instead of a chore. When it looks fun, they’re more excited to eat it…and you’re more excited to make it. Win-win.
3. Let the right tools do the heavy lifting. The right kitchen tools aren’t just about saving time – they’re about saving your sanity. When prepping food takes half the time, and cleanup is easy, the whole lunch routine feels so much more manageable. You don’t need a fancy kitchen…just a few smart finds.
Now that we’ve got a few tricks up our sleeves – let’s dig in to the good stuff – the things/items that will make those Summer lunches a little less stressful and a lot more fun to make!
Reusable Silicone Snack Containers

Grab-n-Go summer snacks? YES, please! These double-compartment silicone snack boxes are perfect for pairing snacks with a dip – think apple slices and peanut butter, veggies and ranch, you get the idea. They’re reusable, travel-friendly, and the kind of thing you’ll grab for literally everything all summer long. AND… there’s even a little holder to pop a fork or spoon right on the top of the container.

Cutting Board Scissors

A cutting board AND scissors in one? Absolutely yes. These 2-in-1 kitchen scissors make chopping fruit, veggies, and snacks so fast that you’ll wonder why you ever did it any other way…and bonus, they’re dishwasher safe, so cleanup is a non-issue.

Uncrustable Sandwich Maker

Because the store-bought ones are cute, but homemade is better (and cheaper!). This little cutter and sealer presses out the perfect crustless sandwich pocket in seconds. The kids will think it’s the most magical thing ever, and honestly, they’re not wrong. Pro Tip: make a few and pop them in air-tight freezer containers, and grab for those “Can I have a snack?” moments!

Banana Slicer

One press and your banana is perfectly sliced. No knife, no cutting board, no drama. It works on strawberries and grapes too, which makes throwing together a quick fruit plate so much faster than it has any right to be.

The baskets are cute on their own, but lined with these checkered deli-style wax paper sheets? Absolutely adorable. 240 sheets in the pack, so you’re set for the whole summer — and they make cleanup even easier since you just toss the liner.

Personalized Water Bottles

Yes, we use them for school, sports, trips – you name it, they’re usually coming with…BUT for the sake of our “no dishes summer” and keeping routines and things easy, we keep our water bottles in play all summer long, even on days we’re hanging at home! That way, we’re not playing the “leave- 340348-cups-around-the-house-and-get-a-new-one-every-time-someone-wants-a-drink” game…IYKYK.
