Living Room Update with Castlery
Functionality and gorgeous aesthetics are the name of the game with any project in this house, yall!
Our living room upgrade is one of my favorites we have done yet. With just a few new pieces, we were able to transform our living/sitting room into a brighter space with functional seating! Come along and see how we transformed the room!
If our living room could talk, it would probably tell you all about our Great Dane, Jewel 💎, who lovingly claimed our old accent chairs as her personal thrones. And if you know Great Danes…they sleep. A lot. So, it soon became evident that we needed to replace the chairs.
And, forever the college girls we still think we still are – my best friend and I sit on the floor around that coffee table and work every day, so we were on the hunt for functional, too.

So when the opportunity came to give this space a refresh, I jumped — okay, leapt — at the chance to not just update the look, but to make it ours again. Enter: Castlery. I’ve loved Castlery’s aesthetic for a long time…clean, modern, timeless…but, I was genuinely blown away by how well these pieces fit not just the room, but our lives.
Let’s take a little tour, shall we?

✨ Mori Armchairs ✨
(Ivory, Performance Fabric)
These chairs are exactly what I wanted: structured and cozy, minimal yet soft, durable and beautiful. The ivory performance fabric is ideal for a busy household (read: kids, Great Dane, real life). I’ve layered throw pillows to add a bit more texture, but the shape of the chairs is what really elevates the whole space. And while Jewel still sneaks up from time to time, she now gets the side eye when she tries — especially if I’ve “accidentally” left a pillow or book in her way 😏.
✨ Hugg Nesting Coffee Table ✨
(with Ivory Stools)
Functionality meets beauty. I cannot say enough good things about this table. The wood tone is warm and grounding, and the little nesting stools? Genius. They tuck in perfectly and are ideal for extra seating (or kid snacking, book reading, and game playing).
I love that it keeps the space open while still offering flexibility when we’re all together in here.
✨ Inez Wool Rug✨
Soft, plush, and just the right amount of texture. It grounds the space without overwhelming it, and it plays so well with the neutral palette we’ve got going. It’s the kind of rug that makes you want to walk barefoot. (Jewel would agree🐾)

The Goal: Aesthetic & Chic; The Vibe: “…but we still live here.”
I like to describe our home style as “cozy modern-contemporary.” It’s neutral, clean, and calming, yet lived-in and functional. Nothing too precious. Nothing that says “don’t sit here.” I want spaces that invite you in and make you want to stay awhile. Spaces that my kids know they can live in and play on and feel safe in, and yes, even that Jewel can lounge in and on 😉.
Since the refresh, this room has quietly become the heart of the house again. It’s where we have early morning coffee, lazy weekend chats, after-school debriefs, and moments of calm (even if just for a minute).
It’s also where Jewel keeps a suspicious eye on anyone who tries to sit her chair. We’re working on it.
Oh, and those gorgeous new buffet cabinets back there? Amazon, of course. 🩷

If you’re looking to update a space in your home, especially one that’s meant for connection and conversation, I highly recommend Castlery. Their pieces blend beauty and function effortlessly, and they really helped us fall in love with this room again!
Whether it’s a refresh or a full redesign, their collections make it easy to create a space that looks good and feels good – even with a house horse curled up nearby 🩷.
Shop this entire space and make yours totally YOURS!
Thank you, always, for being here, friends!
Love you bigger than Texas!
XOXO, Katie
