Hospital Bag Packing
I feel like this is always something mamas-to-be are thinking about! What do I really “need,” what will I “want” to have with me? I can honestly tell you everyone is different, and everyone’s birth story is so different, that it’s kind of just what works best for you. But given that this is baby #3 and a lot of my girlfriends have had babies (both sister in laws included) I’ve got a list that might spark some ideas for you…
For the baby:
Soft blanket
Swaddles
Going home outfits in newborn and 0-3 months (I have big babies, ha!)
Baby gowns/Onesies/Footie outfits newborn and 0-3 months
Bows/Socks
Paci/Wubba Nub
“Hello My Name Is” sticker (got mine on Etsy)
Boppy
For Mama:
Slippers (with a hard sole)/fuzzy socks (with grippers)
1 pair of PJs (button up top with loose fitting bottom)
Nursing tanks
Nursing bras
Going home outfit (I wore dresses both times with the boys)
Lightweight Robe
Blanket
Towel + Wash Cloth + Shampoo + Conditioner + Make Up + Brush
Toothbrush + Paste
Pillow
The hospital will have all the extras for baby including diapers and wipes. They’ll also have mesh undies, the velcro waist band, and pads for mama.
Extras:
iPad + extra long charger
Portable sound machine (we don’t use one but some do!)
Canvas, frame, book for visitors to sign when they visit
Dimmable night light
Insurance cards, paperwork, and our cord blood box were also on the list to bring! (just not my list!)
Postpartum Needs:
Make yourself a basket of items for when you come home!
BLACK UNDIES (without elastic) You’ll thank me later.. I always buy like 10 pairs in my normal size and in one size up. Look for cotton, lace, nothing that will squeeze.
Sitz bath soak and spray
Various size pads
Tuck’s
I hope this helps! I know some of it isn’t glamorous but I think it’s something we have to talk about as new mamas! If I forgot something feel free to comment and share!
