diy guest bedroom update

Ok, yes, it’s intimidating at first…100% yes. But I promiseeeeeee – if I can do it – you can do it. Just gotta have a little patience 😉. My favorite part about this room is that I went a little bold on the print for this wallpaper. Was out of my comfort zone, but I’m SO glad I tried something new because it turned out BEAUTIFULLY.

Forever doing happy dances on wallpaper day, especially for this design, y’all! LOOK how pretty! Wall Blush is one of my very favorite peel-and-stick wallpaper lines, and they have SO many designs to choose from. You simply enter the measurements of your wall, place your order, and they send it to your house, ready for you to create your new space.

Your order will come with pre-labeled numerical panels, and you’re ready to go! Historically, I’ve done one wall in a room, but this one I went all out and decided to do the whole room! I started from left to right, with the wall behind the door.

When I’m placing panels, I personally like to peel off the entire backing of the panel and smooth it out as I go down the wall. In the middle pic below, you can see the panel towards the bottom I’m working on isn’t stuck on yet, since I haven’t gotten that low.

You can also see that I leave the bottom of the panels on each one – I wait to cut those off with a razor until I’m finished with the whole wall (so satisfying!). You’ll need to cut the panels separately as you go (below right), but after you do that, you’re ready to keep going!

You’ll find a rhythm, and I promise it’ll get easier as you go and gain confidence! Just be sure to pay attention to the panel numbers and smooth smooth smooth as you go! Wall Blush sends a smoothing tool that helps you rub the wallpaper, which activates the adhesive on the backing of the wallpaper.

So, here comes the more intimidating part: windows. 😊 But don’t let them be! It just takes a little bit of thought and working around corners and edges with the print. This room has two windows right beside each other, so I had to split two of the panels and make one little tiny strip down the middle part – but I did it!

Pro Tip – You can see a couple of strips hanging around in the pictures below… Be sure to save some of the scraps; you’ll want to cover your electrical plates with extra wallpaper so they seamlessly blend.

Then – the best part! Adding ALL the furniture and accents! This bed has been SO popular…if you’re new here… it’s a twin that converts into a King! This light switch plate is simply gorgeous, and the bedside table is a perfect accent to tie in the gold. Neutral curtains to tie in with the armchair were the final touch, and we’re done y’all!

This was such a fun room to do, y’all! If there’s anything I have to say about a room makeover/update, it’s just start! Wall Blush has SO many gorgeous patterns to choose from, and you’ll absolutely gain confidence as you go. Thank you, always, for being here, friends!

Love y’all bigger than Texas!
XOXO, Katie
