Creating a Relaxing Primary Bedroom
Hey y’all! Let’s talk primary bedrooms!
My bedroom is one of my favorite spots in my home! I’ve worked hard to make it a space that whispers relaxation and curated style. Let’s dive into how I’ve turned my bedroom into a gorgeous space with calming hues, cozy textures, and chic accents to create the ultimate retreat!
The Bed: The Heart of the Room

- The centerpiece of any bedroom is, of course, the bed. Y’all we LOVE our bed!
- I opted for a sleek, upholstered platform bed in a soft beige/greige tone, setting a neutral foundation.
- The clean lines and understated design exude tranquility, making it the perfect spot to unwind.
- The tufted design is classic and one that I know will easily transcend design trends for years to come.
- Ours bed a King size…and I’d go to a California King in a heartbeat 😆
- PRO TIP: Vacuum the sides of your bed every once in a while if it’s upholstered!
Bedding: The Best Part!
- Bedding PRO TIP: Layer!
- With kids AND a house horse, we never go without a Waterproof Mattress Protector.
- I have 2-3 sets of my favorite sheets that are SO soft (These are FAB, too!), and here’s my favorite duvet and duvet cover.
- I love to mix fabrics and textures as I layer. At any point, you’ll see different quilts, blankets, and throws on our bed!
- This Velvet Quilt is a mainstay no matter what else gets traded in and out
- A light weight waffle knit throw is always a good idea
- And yall know how much I LOVE my huge chunky knit throw – it adds such a great pop of texture 😍
- And my most recent splurge – that gorgeous Anthro quilt you see there in the middle below. It’s SO GOOD!
- The mix of textures adds depth while maintaining a neutral palette, and you can play with th neutral tones.
- Our favorite Euro Bed Pillows are also a mainstay, and we ALWAYS have our Beckham Hotel Collection pillows on the bed
- You can always grab Euro shams and pop in Euro Pillow inserts, too, of course.

Home Accents/Decor: Minimal + Meaningful
- I don’t like clutter y’all, so I’m always going for decor pieces that are both functional and beautiful.
- Our matching nightstands in light wood tones have a gorgeous neutral touch. Each has a matching bubble glass lamp. They come with adjustable remote control bulbs to help create ambiance.
- The gold mirrors on each side further create balance in the room.
- One of my VERY favorite decor elements in the room – the infamous (and HUGE) Anthro Gleaming Primrose Mirror. It’s a splurge, but it’s so so good!
- On the wall opposite our bed, I arranged three of my favorite cabinets together. It creates one piece of gorgeous furniture.
- The addition of the cabinet was perfect for that wall. I added simplistic decor that doesn’t pull or distract from anything else in the room. (Guide to Style decor books; Louis Vuitton Table Book)

The Rug(s) Make It!
If you’ve been around a while – you know I LOVE RUGS. If you haven’t and you’re new here…I LOVE RUGS 🤣. We play “rug roulette” in my house and move rugs around from room to room ALL the time! But, more often than not, I have a gorgeous neutral rug in our bedroom.
My tried-and-true secret for rugs…Carpet Tape! I use it on our rugs in our bedrooms around the house to keep them down! It totally WORKS!
My favorite rugs are My Texas House’s indoor/outdoor rugs. I have quite a few of her designs and patterns throughout my home.

Keep It Simple!
At the end of the day, you want your bedroom to pull you in and be a place of respite. Keep it simple!
– Add a touch of life and freshness with a couple of low-maintenance houseplants near the window.
– Stay true to your sense of taste and the look you’re going for.
– ENJOY IT!
Thank you, always for being here!
Love yall bigger than Texas!
XOXO – Katie
