Baby Item Must Haves from Two Busy Moms
Attention all current mamas, soon to be mamas, and friends of mamas! Since having Campbell (“Tulip” as my boys call her) I’ve realized there are some items that are definite must-haves in the baby world. Of course everyone has an opinion or favorite when it comes to baby items and all things baby, but with help from a dear friend and sorority sister of mine, Erin, we created a list of must have baby items. So sit back and let us do the baby shower shopping for you!
All three of my kids were big fans of the Wubba Nub. Do yourself a favor and buy at least two and make sure they are the ones that lay flat so they don’t roll off the baby. Tulip has surprised us and sucks her thumb on occasion but she is still a wubba gal! Side note, when the kids were done with wubbas we cut the paci part off and they kept the animals.
A soft swaddle is another must have, or at least another must have at least 5 handy. I can’t tell you how many swaddles we have but the ones I grab most often are from Cotton Loom. They’re insanely soft and come in the sweetest prints. As if you need any other reasons to shop Cotton Loom, this one is a small mom run business!
This one my husband would fully agree with… a Diaper Genie (or some form of diaper container trapper thing) We’ve always used the Diaper Genie because that’s the brand we got with Rocker. Ours has lasted through all three kids. My sister in law has the Ubbi and they love it too. Benefits of the Ubbi is you can used normal trash bags with it unlike the Diaper Genie which requires their refill bags.
This one I didn’t learn until kid number 2! But have you ever read the wording on a box of dryer sheets? Sounds silly, but they are not great for kids pajamas. So after learning this I switched the kids clothes to dryer balls. Need a scent with your clothes? Add some essential oils!
Boppy is another amazing company that puts out great baby items! We have multiple Boppy pillows! We love the Boppy Lounger in the living room and the Nursing Pillow (we have two of these one for the nursery and one for the living room). The Nursing Pillow is great to take to the hospital too!
One of the best gifts I received at this last baby shower was a basket of self care items for before delivery, the hospital, and after delivery. It was SO thoughtful! Each bag was tagged with a comment like “for when you can take a bath” (bath salts) “for when you get home from the hospital” nursing tank tops and “for when you need to keep the boys busy” a coloring mat for the boys.
Making a diaper cake? Think about adding some burp cloths! These ones are super handy and easy to grab when cleaning up little faces and messes. I can’t tell you how many of these we have because we keep them everywhere and use them constantly for alllll the things!
One tool that is super helpful with babies and grows with them is a sound machine. The Hatch Baby Rest is fabulous!! The features on this one support sleeping habits and is mama friendly! They even make covers for them to match your nursery theme.
Between Erin and I, we have 5 kiddos, and both of us will tell you your littles will live in zip up footie outfits. Zip up footie pajamas are a definite must have for your baby! The zip up makes late night diaper changing easier and sometimes you’ll find a set that zips from the foot up so you don’t have to totally open the outfit! Here’s a couple to get you started…
We hope our list of must haves gets you started! Of course you’ll need a stroller, car seat, crib/bassinet, and other big items but we felt these were baby shower friendly and easy to give as a gifts. Happy shopping and happy all things baby!
