Family Vacay @ The JW Marriott San Antonio

Good Morning! We are back from our family vacation and goodness I wish we were still there!

We booked a Sunday-Wednesday with the JW Marriott in San Antonio online and got the “breakfast rate” which meant breakfast for two adults was included in our cost. Also, I appreciated that, with our reservation, I was able to specify double bed or king with a couch sleeper, request pillow type, and a couple of other accommodations.

We drove, so a “how to road trip with two boys under four years old” post is coming soon, but it took us longer than the map predicted because Interstate 35 is always under construction and clogged with traffic. We stopped at Buccees for the first time too. Holy overwhelming! That place reminds me of the State Fair of Texas but with gas pumps!

We arrived at the JW and were instantly greeted by friendly faces that offered us valet or self park. Craig parked the car himself after they unloaded all of our bags and had them sent up to the room. We opted for a king bed with a couch sleeper and ended up on the 9th floor with the most gorgeous view! Our balcony over looked the golf course, trees, and hills for as far as the eye could see. Our bathroom had a shower and a tub, which was fab for the littles. The TV in our room was huge and we had the option to log into our Netflix accounts. Oh! And we got 2 complimentary drinks when we arrived (how could I forget!).

Anyone who vacations knows that food is often a highlight, so lets talk food! We had breakfast every morning at the Cibolo Moon and it was fab! We always had the buffet because it expansive in selection it offered just about everything we could ask for. They had scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, omelettes, tacos, cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries… like everything. I haven’t told Craig yet but this was my favorite part of our vacation, not the food specifically, but the ability to start each day with my boys all in one place and not feel rushed out the door…it was wonderful. We had lunch at the pool restaurant and I brought snacks with us. We had dinner one night at the Cibolo Moon but the other nights we ate at High Velocity, their sports bar. Both places had the same kids meal buffet with mac n cheese, corn dogs, fruit, brownies, chicken fingers, and tater tots. Theres also a Starbucks on property, a steak house, and a couple of other spots we could have eaten, but when you’ve got tired littles you stick to what you know.

Things to do? LOTS! Like, so much. Every day there are different activities for the kids. When we arrived, we got a schedule for the week of all the activities in which the kids could participate. Some of them were cookie decorating, sand art bottles, smores, and a themed kid party every night from 6-10. As if all that isn’t enough, the pool was amazing. Slides, lazy river, a beach, kid zone with slides and spraying features, cabanas, a restaurant, and beach chairs everywhere! The gym at the JW is nice, theres a game room for kids (like 15 arcade style games), and a grassy area for kids to run around. Every day Rocker played checkers or chess with Craig at their 6 game spots.

Tips to make the most out of your stay:
– Bring a stroller if you have littles. We pushed Jagger everywhere in the umbrella stroller
– Bring snacks and drinks to keep in your hotel room
– This place is kid friendly and beautiful so be ready for gorgeous views and kids everywhere!
– Attire: I wish I had packed more casual clothes for breakfast and hanging out.
– The golf course grassy area is a beautiful spot if you want to take an impromptu family photo
– Relax and sit back!

This place was perfect for our family of four. We just wanted to spend time together, go swimming, and enjoy a couple days work free. I highly recommend the JW Marriott San Antonio and will definitely be going back! If you have any questions feel free to ask, I’ll do my best to help.
